Trends
Over the last 30 years the prevalence of smoking has been decreasing in Europe. Scotland has also seen significant falls in the number of people smoking.

In 2018, just over a fifth (21%) of Glaswegian adults were regular smokers, slightly higher than Scotland overall (18%). Dundee had the highest rate of regular smokers in 2018 (25%). The proportion of smokers reduced in all Scottish cities and Scotland as a whole between 2012 and 2018.

Just over a fifth (21%) of adults in Glasgow were regular smokers in 2018, the highest proportion within the Glasgow City Region (GCR). The proportion of smokers reduced in all the GCR local authorities and in Scotland overall between 2012 and 2018.
