Glasgow City Region
Over the next 25 years, the child populations of six out of the eight local authorities in the Glasgow City Region are forecast to reduce. The largest reductions are predicted for Inverclyde, down by 26%, and for West Dunbartonshire, down by 19%. In contrast, the child population of East Dunbartonshire is forecast to increase by 4% and in East Renfrewshire the children's population is forecast to increase by 5%.
The graphs below illustrate the projected trends in the Glasgow City Region, excluding Glasgow for presentational reasons. Glasgow's child population is predicted to reduce by 7%, equating to a reduction of 7,100, in the next 25 years. The projections for a range of age groups in Glasgow can be viewed here.

The child populations of both North and South Lanarkshire are predicted to reduce over the next 25 years. A larger reduction is predicted for North Lanarkshire, where the child population is predicted to fall by 15%, a reduction of over 9,300 children.
