Families with young children
This group crosses over with all other groups. Families can experience a significant reduction in income whilst reliant on maternity and paternity payments.
We do not have figures that can show how many children live in households where there is a child under one year of age in Glasgow, but there are figures at a Scottish level of the poverty rate for these households.
Child poverty rates in households with a child under one year old, Scotland
Both relative and absolute poverty for these families have grown in the time period shown, from 27% to 34% and from 28% to 30%, respectively. The rate of combined low income and material deprivation has lowered, from 17% to 13%.
Notes
These data come from Scottish Government statistics. The newest child poverty data, released in March 2023, did not include estimates for this group, and so this page has not been updated. It will be updated when there are new figures available.
