Almost half of all offences were for miscellaneous (disorder related) offences, which mainly include breach of the peace, street drinking and urinating. The second highest type of youth offending behaviour identified is crimes of dishonesty which accounts for 12% of all youth crime.

Reported anti-social behaviour, including Youth Related ASB, Glasgow and Clyde Valley

Glasgow and Clyde Valley LAs ASB Incidents Youth Related ASB per 10 000 PopulationThe chart above highlights the rate of anti-social behaviour (ASB) incidents across the Glasgow and Clyde Valley region and the proportion that were classified as youth related. Glasgow experienced the fourth lowest proportion of youth ASB incidents during 2011/12 compared to other local authority areas in Glasgow and Clyde Valley. Out of all the ASB reports received, approximately 16% related to youth disorder, which is consistent with the previous year. This was below the average for all Glasgow and Clyde Valley local authorities, which was roughly 19%. East Dunbartonshire experienced the highest proportion with approximately 26% of all ASB incidents being youth related.  

Youth-related anti-social behaviour trends, Glasgow

Number of youth related ASB incidents recorded in Glasgow 2003 04 to 2011 12The chart depicts that there has been a significant decrease in the level of youth-related ASB recorded in Glasgow between 2006/07 and 2011/12. During July 2012, 938 youth-related ASB reports were received throughout Glasgow, this is a 63% decrease compared to July 2008 when 2,541 incidents were recorded.

Youth crime - Includes all police-recorded crimes committed by persons under 18 years of age.

Police Scotland defines any reported incidents of anti-social behaviour as complaints or disturbances that are generally reported by members of the public. These are recorded on the STORM Command and Control system.

Youth related - If the recorded complaint or disturbance is reported as involving youths, the incident is given a youth flag.
