Cultural engagement

Cultural engagement is defined as any form of cultural participation or attendance.  The graphs below show data from 2023 and show the percentage of the population who have had some form of cultural engagement over the past 12 months.

Scottish cities

Glasgow had the lowest level of cultural engagement (81.2%) out of the four selected Scottish cities and was below the Scottish average (88.2%). Edinburgh had the highest level of cultural engagement with 94.6%.

Glasgow City Region

In the Glasgow City Region, East Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire had levels of cultural engagement that were higher than the Scottish average of 88.2%. The percentage of people who had some form of cultural engagement in the past 12 months was below 85% in Glasgow (81.2%), Inverclyde (82.2%) and North Lanarkshire (83.2%).

Notes

It should be noted that many of the apparent differences in the figures between Glasgow and Scotland (and other areas) may not be significant due to the relatively small sample sizes of the survey data.
