According to Glasgow’s Cultural Statistics Digest (2010), Glasgow is home to 41% of Scotland’s actors, dancers, broadcasters, 38% of its musicians and 29% of its artists and graphic designers. Glasgow is Scotland’s major centre for training in the cultural professions, which accounts for a fifth of cultural sector in the city.

For pop venues and centres/small venues, there was an increase in the number of performances over the period 2007/08-2013/14. In the more recent reported years, there has been a decline in the number of performances at receiving theatres, producing theatres and concert halls. The types of venues with the highest numbers of performances in 2013/14 were producing theatres and centres/small venues.
