NEETS trends Scot cities 2010 2019The rate of young adults (aged 16-19) not in employment, education or training in Scotland declined from 2009/10 to 2018/19. Glasgow had the highest rate of the Scottish cities in 2009/10 but this reduced over time and by 2018/19 only 3% of leavers were in this situation on leaving school.

These estimates are based on data from a School Leavers Destinations publication and the Department for Work and Pensions. The combination of these sources is likely to underestimate the number of 16-19 year olds not in employment, education or training by approximately 20-25%.
