Glasgow Centre for Population Health
Since 2004, the Glasgow Centre for Population Health has sought to generate insights and evidence, support new approaches, and inform and influence action to improve health and tackle inequality.

The Centre has produced a range of health information resources, including: Let Glasgow Flourish (2006), Views of health in Glasgow (2009) and Miniature Glasgow (2009) and range of health profiles over the last 15 years.

Early GCPH research looked at health and health-related factors in the West of Scotland compared with other, similar, post-industrial areas in Europe. Further work aims to understand what lies behind excess mortality, a term used to describe the poor health status of Glasgow (and Scotland) over and above that attributable to high levels of socio-economic deprivation. GCPH's most recent research in this area has focussed on the contribution of UK Government austerity policy to increasing mortality trends seen across the UK and especially in more deprvied areas.
