Projections of households by type in Glasgowproj hh gla 18 43National Records of Scotland forecasts that the number of households in Glasgow is set to grow from 292,619 in 2018 to 328,229 in 2043, a rise of 12%. The proportion of different types of households is not predicted to change greatly. The proportion of single-adult households in the city is predicted to increase slightly to 45% of all households by 2043.

Household numbers grew by 25,431 (9.4%), whilst the number of dwellings grew by 35,969 (12.5%). In 2001, the difference between dwellings and households (as a proportion of overall dwellings) was 5.72%; whereas in 2023 the same figure was 8.34%.
