There are 56 neighbourhoods in Glasgow. The populations of these areas vary from less than 797 people living in Carmunnock in the south of the city to over 23,000 people living in Hyndland, Dowanhill and Partick East in the west of the city.

In this period, the population of many of Glasgow’s neighbourhoods increased substantially. In 13 neighbourhoods, the population increased by over 1,000 people. The largest increases in population were in City Centre & Merchant City (+4,984), Parkhead & Dalmarnock (+3,332) and Hyndland, Dowanhill & Partick East (+3,018). In 23 neighbourhoods the population reduced between 2011 and 2022, with the largest reduction of over 1,265 people in Springburn.

The neighbourhoods which had the largest proportional population rises were Parkhead & Dalmarnock (+42.9%), City Centre & Merchant City (+30.2%), South Nitshill & Darnley (+27.1%) and Yorkhill & Anderston (+25.7%). In contrast, the neighbourhoods that endured the greatest proportional population losses were Sighthill, Roystonhill & Germiston (-16.4%), Crookston & South Cardonald (-10.8%), Mount Vernon & East Shettleston (-9.1%) and Silverburn (-9.0%).
