Psycho-social functioning
The Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) is a brief questionnaire which gives an indication of any difficulties a child or young person might have with conduct, inattention, emotions and peer relationships, as well as strengths in social functioning. Questions are asked on these five subjects - four on difficulties (emotional symptoms, conduct problems, hyperactivity/inattention, and peer relationship problems) and one on strengths (prosocial behaviour) - and a score produced which can indicate the likelihood that the child or young person may have a clinically significant problem.
In Glasgow City, SDQs are currently being collected at 30 months (through Health Visitors), at age 4-5 in nurseries and in Primary 3 and Primary 6. These pages show data from 30 month, preschool and P3. There is also data on teens, which comes from the 2018 Scottish Schools Adolescent Lifestyle and Substance Use Survey (SALSUS).
