The graph above shows trends in the proportion of the Scottish population and that of the Glasgow City Region local authorities living near derelict sites. There is considerable variation between the local authorities, with some having a relatively stable rate of people living near derelict sites (e.g. East Renfrewshire - 23%) and in one case a very low rate (East Dunbartonshire - 3%). However, in other areas such as Inverclyde and North Lanarkshire there has been a notable rise in people living close to derelict land. North Lanarkshire, Glasgow, Inverclyde and West Dunbartonshire have the highest proportions of people living near derelict sites.
