Scottish cities

Glasgow has the lowest proportion of people in owner-occupied housing (approximately 48%), while Edinburgh has the highest rates (around 60%). In all of the cities shown, more people own their home with a mortgage than own their home outright, with around one in four people owning their home outright in Aberdeen (25.5%), Edinburgh (25.9%) and Dundee (24.1%), and around one in five people owning their home outright in Glasgow (19.5%).

Edinburgh has the highest level of individuals living in privately-rented properties (23.5%), and Glasgow has the lowest (16.8%). Glasgow has the highest level of individuals living in social-rented housing, at 32.7%.

This chart looks at individuals, but the data is also available by households.
