Levels of overweight adults by SIMD quintiles
The measure of an adult being overweight presented is defined as individuals having a body mass index (BMI) of over 25 (measure includes those who are obese).

Data for Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a whole shows marked variation in overweight adults by area deprivation quintiles - those in the least deprived two quintiles are less likely to be overweight than those in the more deprived three quintiles.

There are large differences in obese adults by area deprivation quintiles. There are almost twice as many obese adults in the most deprived quintile as in the least deprived quintile.

The information shown above is based on a survey sample, i.e. based on only a subset of people in each area. As with all analysis from survey data, there is a degree of uncertainty around how estimates from a subset of people accurately reflect the data from all individuals.
