Glasgow has a relatively small percentage (19%) of non-white ethnic groups compared to the other selected UK cities. Birmingham and Manchester have the largest percentage of the population from non-white ethnic groups (51% and 43% respectively). Pakistani is the largest ethnic group in four of the six selected UK cities, including Glasgow.

Around 8% of Glasgow’s population come from white ethnic groups (excluding White British). Compared to other selected UK cities, Glasgow ranks approximately in the middle. The highest percentage of white ethnic groups are in Edinburgh (13%).

'White ethnic group' includes ‘White Irish’, ‘White Gypsy/Irish Traveller’ and ‘Other White’, excluding 'White British' and ‘White Scottish’.
